However, ancient fears are a thing of the past. We now look forward to the phenomenon of eclipses as they are marvelous and beautiful to look at. Apart from this, this is a rare phenomenon which makes it something to watch out for!

We do not have to be waiting for years as there will be a partial lunar eclipse right before the year ends! A partial lunar eclipse is one where only a portion of the moon enters the umbra, or the shadow which is created by the alignment of the sun, earth and moon.

The partial lunar eclipse will start at 1:17am Dec.31 and end at 5:28am Dec.31, 2009. This will look magnificent if viewed with a telescope to experience the full glory of the eclipse.

The Seven Suites Hotel Observatory is the first Hotel Observatory in the Philippines. They feature a telescope which lets you look at the stars. Located in Antipolo City, the Seven Suites Hotel is a prime wedding venue as it is very close to the city and it offers a view of the stunning metropolis at night.

We have a lot of Philippine Wedding Traditions which govern our wedding ceremonies. Here are but some of them:

• Brides shouldn’t try on her wedding dress before the wedding day, this is said to bring bad luck to the wedding as it will not push through.Giving arinola (chamberpot) are considered lucky wedding gifts.

  Altar-bound couples are accident-prone and therefore must avoid long drives or traveling before their wedding day for safety. They are recommended to stay in hotels or places near their wedding venue.

  To avoid bad luck, the groom must arrive before the bride at the church

  Two siblings to marry on the same year is considered to bring bad luck.

  Breaking something during the reception is encouraged as this is good luck for the newlyweds.

  Pearls are a bad idea for the wedding ceremony as pearls resemble tears making the wife unhappy and she will experience many heartaches and tears.

  The ring bearer and the veil bearer are to be very careful with the veils and rings as dropping it means that the couple will be unhappy.

While there are many other superstitions and folk practices surrounding a Philippine wedding, one of the things Filipinos really consider is their wedding venue.  One must find a wedding venue which is elegant and romantic.

Professional Hotel and Hospitality Industry Practitioners Mr. Ramonette Nacabuan and Ms. Marissa Lim will be teaching the students housekeeping and front office operations respectively.  These two have been well immersed in the industry insuring that the students’ learning will be guided by the industry standards.

Ms Marissa Lim has 20 years Housekeeping and Front Office Experience having worked as the Executive Housekeeper of Peninsula Hotel in China and 15 years at the  Westin Philippine Plaza. Mr. Ramonette Nacabuan worked as Housekeeping Executive at the Palace of the Sheik in Saudi Arabia for 10 years. He is an accredited TESDA Housekeeping Instructor and Assessor.

Both courses, Professional Housekeeping and Professional Hotel and Front Office Operations, will last for 3 months plus their apprenticeship with ASHA’s partners and affiliates.  Some of ASHA’s affiliate hotels and restaurants include The Seven Suites Hotel Observatory and The Orange Place Hotel, as well as C2 Classic Cuisine and the C3 Events Place, The Best Western Hotel La Corona in Manila and the Manila Pavilion Waterfront Hotels.

The Asian School of Hospitality Arts has campuses in Kamias, Quezon City and Antipolo City.  Opening of classes will be on December 14, 2009.
